That open bag of cookies or chips in the cupboard can easily sabotage your best intensions for a healthier lifestyle. To avoid these temptations clean out your cupboards and pantry of all the unhealthy foods - ones that are full of simple carbohydrates, additives and preservatives. Don't let the labels "gluten-free" or "made with whole grains" trick you into thinking an item is healthy. Many "whole grain" foods are actually made with highly refined grain flours and mixed with other ingredients such as sugars and salts which are not good for you.
Crackers, chips, cereals, pasta, white rice, quick oats, candy and cookies should all be removed from your home. If any of the items are unopened, donate them to a food pantry.
